We all watched as Coronavirus began spreading across the world didn’t we, and then it hit the UK. Before we knew it the country was in panic and people were falling ill and sadly losing their lives. It was a terrifying time for everyone.

Nursery was closed by the government on 23rd March to all but keyworker children. The Brambles opened its doors to less than 10 children, the kitchen remained closed and many staff and children stayed home with their mums and dads.

It was very quiet here but we pulled together, making changes to how our days would run. Parents weren’t allowed to enter the building and children were bringing their own packed lunches. We were blessed with some lovely weather though and the children who were here had loads of fun. As far as they were aware, nothing was any different.

A few months passed and in June we were finally given some guidance from the government. It was good news, we were allowed to open to more children while creating ‘bubbles’ to ensure safety. We began inviting children back gradually, along with some staff, including the children’s favourite – Tina the cook! We implemented lots of new systems which included deep cleaning daily, markers on the floor to mark the 2m distancing, hand sanitisers installed in each room………….the list was endless! We fell into a routine and the staff were amazing at supporting the children on their return to the ‘new normal’ nursery life.

July came and we were able to open more spaces, it was great to see even more children and staff return. It soon felt like no one had been away, the children settled super fast and surprised us all at how resilient they have been. It was great to see how all the children had developed while being at home. It seems that the time at home has help many children in certain areas of their development.

Now August is approaching and we are pleased to say we are able to open fully to all children and invite new children to start with us! Phew!

Thank you so much for all the support we have received from all the families, staff and local community during this most unprecedented time.

With schools reopening in September we will be saying a fond goodbye to our rising 5’s, wishing them well as they move from nursery to reception class at their new schools.

As a result we have a number of vacancies to fill, so please get in touch either by phone or email and we will send you our information pack and talk you through our Covid 19 precautions on how you can safely visit our nursery and discuss registering your child.
